Schoolmates hang out at train stations stealing the belongings in unattended suitcases. Others steal liquor and groceries from the locals walking at night. THE TRIBE is bold and fearless in form and execution. Miroslav Slaboshpytskiy’s brutal film is far from silent and much more than the calculated exercise it seems to be. It’s got a story every bit as bold and fearless as its approach – the kind of primal story that’s beyond the ken of language.
Written and directed by Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy, THE TRIBE is something of a formal tour de force, a triumphant overcoming of self-imposed cinematic challenges.
