It’s now 1938 and Indy has donated the crucifix to a museum. Walter Donovan, a wealthy American businessman, commissions Indy to search for the Holy Grail. Indy learns from an associate that his father, Henry Jones Sr. is also searching for the Holy Grail. Indy and his father have a fractious relationship but they agree to work together.
