In 1980, Cuban refugees Tony Montana and his friend Manny Ray arrive in Miami as part of the Mariel boatlift, Castro’s program of dumping Cuban undesirables in the U.S. Both are penniless working as dishwashers. Miami drug lord Frank Lopez gives them a job: to purchase cocaine from Colombian dealers holed up in a Miami Beach fleabag. The negotiation goes awry and the Colombians threaten Montana  with a chainsaw. Ray comes to the rescue but Montana is badly shaken. He insists on delivering the cocaine directly to Lopez. Lopez and Montana become a team buying and selling cocaine. Montana becomes so confident he makes a play for the gorgeous Elvira, Lopez’s mistress. Eventually, Montana strikes out on his own. But in so doing he angers Sosa, his powerful source for Bolivian cocaine. Montana begins to realize that all this might not end well.

Most thrillers use interchangeable characters, and most gangster movies are more interested in action than personality, but SCARFACE is one of those special movies that is willing to take a flawed, evil man and allow him to be human. SCARFACE is a must-see portrait of a real louse.
Roger Ebert

After a quarter of a century, a return to the big screen now further magnifies the brutal unsubtlety of Brian De Palma’s 1983 gangster film. SCARFACE is a must see for Pacino’s potent and influential performance.
