The violence of the inter-American drug trade has served as the backdrop for any number of films for more than three decades, but few have been as powerful and superbly made as SICARIO.
Director Denis Villeneuve and writer Taylor Sheridan have taken control of a straight-ahead Hollywood genre movie and managed it with great flair without any supercilious over-thinking–which is not to say that it isn’t smart. As an action thriller, it delivers.
