It’s 1923. On the green island of Inisherin, Pádraic, a milk farmer, and Colm, a violinist in the process of composing a song, meet every day at the local pub for a pint of Guinness. One day Colm shocks Pádraic, telling him their friendship is over and he doesn’t want to see him again. Pádraic refuses to believe Colm and persists in seeing him. An exasperated Colm threatens to cut his fingers if Pádraic continues to stalk him. Pádraic’s sister Siobhán, who lives with Pádraic, tells him that maybe Colm just doesn’t like him anymore and he should accept this. Pádraic becomes so obsessed with the broken friendship that it could become destructive.
