Also working in the household is Mrs. Baines, a bitter woman who treats Phillipe badly. Accidentally, Phillipe discovers that Baines is having an affair with a lovely French woman, Julie. Mr. Baines asks Phillipe to keep this affair a secret. Inevitably, Mrs. Baines finds out about the affair and a confrontation takes place.
