“I love the name of honor
More than I fear death.”

BroadwayHD is a digital platform not many viewers know about. But, it’s something very, very special. The platform offers videos of some of the most noteworthy theatrical plays and musicals produced on Broadway, Lincoln Center Theater, Roundabout, the Donmar Warehouse in London, and TV Specials. If you love theater, subscribing to BroadwayHD is a cost you will not regret.

Here are five examples:

This superb video rendition is noteworthy in that it reunites the original leads, Lee J. Cobb and Mildred Dunnock…

News & Commentary

“When the film Bad Education premiered to a packed theater at the Toronto International Film Festival, it drew enthusiastic reviews. That the film sold to HBO instead of to a theatrical distributor was seen as a surprise, but also as a sign of the times: Mid-budget films aimed at adults have all but disappeared from movie theaters and big sales of indies have rarely paid off in recent years.”—Kate Aurthur, VARIETY.

Here’s one thing the pandemic has done: It has given people a taste of what it’s like to stream films at home. The theatrical experience will still be around. It’s not going to die. But, there will also be a realization that some of the best films being produced can only be seen on a digital platform. And that is especially true of film series. My prediction: The future will not be an “either/or.” People will enjoy both the theatrical experience and the streaming experience, probably in equal doses.
