Docudrama | English and German with English subtitles | 96 minutes

Info

On January 20, 1942, several Nazi party officials, led by SS head, Reinhard Heydrich, gathered in the German town of Wannsee to discuss the “Final Solution.” Secluded in a lakeside villa they chillingly debated and argued their plans to exterminate the Jews in Germany and the occupied countries   Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Czechoslovakia, and France. The drama is based on the only remaining transcript from the original meeting.

Cast (Major Participants at the Wannsee Conference):
Kenneth Branagh (Reinhard Heydrich, Assistant to Himmler in the SS) / Stanley Tucci (Adolf Eichmann, Obersturmbannführer of the SS) / Colin Firth (Wilhelm Stuckart, co-author of the anti-Semitic Nuremberg Laws) / Brendan Coyle (Heinrich Müller, Gestapo Chief) / David Threlfall (Friedrich Wilhelm Kritzinger, Deputy Head, Reich Chancellery)
Why Stream This Film?
The psyche of these evil men, cold-bloodedly planning the extermination of Europe’s Jews, would be unbelievable had the original transcript of the meeting  not been found. Every word uttered is true. And the world did nothing. Elie Wiesel commented that “the opposite of life is not death; it’s indifference.”

Loring Mandel has written a script that’s scary in its understatement and Frank Pierson has directed a movie that’s  even scarier because it might just as well have been a board meeting of investment bankers.
