Like Water for Chocolate
Drama/ Comedy | In Spanish with English subtitles | 105 minutes
In 1900 Mexico, Mama Elena tells Tita, her youngest daughter, the country’s tradition calls for Tita to remain single so Tita can care for her. This doesn’t sit well with Tita as she has fallen in love with Pedro. Mama Elena mollifies Pedro by suggesting he marry Rosaura, Tita’s sister. Pedro agrees but tells his father he’s doing so only to be close to Tita. Tita displays her emotional pain by creating fantastic, almost supernatural, meals. As the years pass, Rosaura loses her baby to illness and Mexico is on the brink of a revolution. These upsetting events will test if the love between Tita and Pedro will prevail.
