The Moon Is Blue
Comedy | English | 99 minutes
Young actress Patty O’Neill meets playboy architect Donald Gresham on the Observation Deck of the Empire State Building. Donald invites Patty to his apartment on Madison Avenue. Fending off Donald’s attempts to seduce her, Patty instead cooks him dinner and sews a button on is coat. In the same building, Patty meets Donald’s ex-fiancée, Dawn, and her lecherous father David Slater. While Patty is more interested in having spirited discussions with Donald and David, they have other ideas. The next day Patty returns to the Empire State Building and Donald is there. He professes love for Patty and she must decide if this is the real thing.

What keeps this frothy film interesting, in a perverse way, is that the goody-two-shoes Patty comes across as calculating while the two playboys are viewed as much more sympathetic figures despite all their conniving attempts to score a virgin.
“THE MOON IS BLUE is a small comedy that seems to sparkle, sound monotonous, look machine-made, and appear smartly guided at the same moment.”
