Taylor Sheridan—A Remarkable Talent

Jan 22, 2021 | Newsletter

“Everybody has a talent; it’s just a matter of moving around until you’ve discovered what it is”

George Lucas

For two decades Taylor Sheridan struggled to be an established actor and failed. At age forty, he found his calling as a screenwriter and director. He attained success with four films that reflect his “frontier life.” He was born in the impoverished part of West Texas with little modern conveniences. He started herding cattle as a teenager facing harsh summers, freezing winters, and relentless rain in the fall. Sheridan also lived among Native Americans where he witnessed their struggles and hardships. Through films, the ranch boy from West Texas, was able to showcase an America few people knew about.

Here are four of his most noteworthy:

Sicario

Kate Macer, a rising FBI agent, is assigned to a task force headed by Matt Graver and Alejandra Gillick…

Hell or High Water

Toby and Tanner Howard, two impoverished brothers whose ranch is facing foreclosure, pull off several robberies…

Wind River

On the Wind River Native American Reservation, Cory Lambert, a tracker of mountain lions killing livestock, discovers…

Sicario: Day of the Soldado

Backed by a Mexican drug cartel, a terrorist bombs a Kansas City supermarket killing 15 people…

Coming Soon, Can’t Wait

Opening TBD, 2021: Netflix. Diana: A Musical
March 2021: Amazon Prime. Coming 2 America. Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones– back again.

War Is Hell

It’s all about death and destruction….and yet, humorists have found funny quips that temporarily diminish our despondency. Here are a six good ones:

Never share a foxhole with someone braver than you.

Try to look unimportant. The enemy may be low on ammo.

The best defense is to stay out of range.

Remember: your aircraft was built by the lowest bidder.

Friendly fire isn’t.

My best,
