A Small Light
Series| English | 1 Season (8 episodes. Each episode is 55 minutes)
Miep Gies, a young woman, convinces Otto Frank, a distributor of Opekta jams, to hire her as his secretary. When the Nazis occupy Amsterdam during World War II, the Frank family, being Jewish, hide in an attic above the office. Miep, a Christian, able to move freely in the city, agrees to bring the family groceries and other essentials. If she is caught by the Gestapo, she would either be imprisoned or executed. But she carries on with help from her equally heroic husband, Jan. During this two-year period, Miep forms a close bond with Otto, his wife Edith, and daughters Anne and Margot. While clearing out the attic after the Gestapo ransack it, Miep finds the now-famous diary Anne kept during the past two years. After the war, Miep gives the diary to Otto Frank, the only member of the family to survive.

A SMALL LIGHT has glittering moments of defiance, humor and perseverance that help temper the very real feelings of rage and terror laced throughout the series. It’s a balancing act that isn’t often handled as eloquently as it is here.
A SMALL LIGHT is a handsome, literate and moving production.
